Lancaster Road, St Albans

The project comprises a series of interventions to an existing early 1970s house in St Albans. The existing built-in garage has been converted into a new studio space. A new staircase links the studio with the existing basement, utilising an old vehicle inspection pit in the garage floor. A sunken terrace is created at the rear of the property to connect the new basement master bedroom space to the garden, allowing in natural light and providing a garden aspect. The first floor of the property has also been reconfigured to provide an additional bedroom plus a new family bathroom, lit from above via a large linear rooflight.
